Our Foster Care Process

Please review the details provided below to acquaint yourself with our Foster Care program. Once you have familiarised yourself with the process & requirements, you may proceed to complete our foster care online application form.

Once you have been approved as a registered foster carer with Adopt A Dog Fraser Coast we will make contact with you as required when dogs come into our care.

To ensure that your application is eligible for consideration, we ask for a few minimum requirements:

  • A secure, fully fenced yard is paw-some, especially for our doggy friends.
  • Renters, we need a nod from your landlord or property agent to make sure everyone’s on board.
  • Fraser Coast locals are our heroes, especially if you can chauffeur pets to vet appointments.
  • Multiple pets? We might need to do a compatibility check to ensure harmony.
  • You’ll meet potential adopters, but we’ll handle the adoption process. Teamwork makes the dream work!
  • If things get ruff, don’t hesitate to bark for help. We’ve got your back, and the furball’s too.
  • Vacation plans? Just give us a heads-up, and we’ll arrange a cozy staycation for your foster friend.
  • Already own multiple pets? You may require additional approval from your local council for the intended number of pets you plan to keep. Click here for more information on animal registration.

As part of our foster care program, we will need to plan a home visit to you and your family just to make sure your home, it’s occupants and the property is a suitable fit for your foster buddy. Please note: As some dogs can be unpredictable around children, we will take into consideration the ages of any children living in your home at the time. Having young children living in your home will not prevent you from becoming a foster carer, but help us to select a dog of correct size and temperament to suit your household members and environment.

Fostering a dog is an incredibly rewarding experience and is essential to our overall success at Adopt A Dog Fraser Coast. Your choice to become a foster carer is invaluable to our mission and without the volunteer carers, we could not continue to offer the much needed assistance to our furry friends in need.

Thank you for taking the time to familiarise yourself with our foster care program. If you are interested in becoming a foster carer please complete our foster care online application form here.
